the internet isn't BAD, but the way corporations and shitty people use it IS bad. there's so much to do online, so many interesting things, free resources, you can learn and do so much but those things don't make corporations money, so they do their best to keep you hooked on their product. there are literally billions of websites out there and you could probably name 20, at most.

if you have depression, anxiety, issues with attention span or impulse control, spend a few days, a week, two weeks, or as long as you can off of social media and see if you feel better. there are better places online to be, and this page is to help you find those spaces.

cute a shameless plug letsmakeascene, my website focused on scene, emo and 2000s/2010s youth culture in general. tons of info on 00s/10s fashion and diy resources, plus popular media of the time and so much more. building this site is what got me started on neocities!

cute currently getting a revamp, neopets, is so cool. play alone, in online communities or with friends! adopt a virtual pet and make some penpals on there too :) its pretty cool. watch out for random scientology though, the history of neopets is a little iffy but it has new ownership at this point.

cute geocities sites preservation here, where old geocities are archived. all kinds of old graphics, info, personal sites, topic-specific sites... there's a lot of random stuff, so if you go down the rabbit hole be careful!! you might see upsetting things, although i havent there are potential triggers throughout.

cute i like gaiaonline... kinda? i actually just use the dream avatar builder to make characters n stuff but i've always known ppl who like and use the site for its intended purpose!

cute some mmos/mmorpgs/virtual worlds i like or used to play in general aqworlds which has a very funny sense of humor and a lot of customizing options for characters, and the single-player by the same people, adventure quest. I really like palia, but if you join remember to be kind, helpful, and get a feel for how people usually play! the community is soooo nice, plz help keep it that way. habbo hotel which i used to play, a basic mmo.

check out creepypasta, and nosleep if you're a fan of horror! there are short ones, long ones, podcasts and narrorated, tons of ways to indulge in these and a long history with tons of silly (and sometimes disturbing) irl lore behind these communities. perfect if you're into the dark side of the net.
